Ante Žižić Had 28 PIR in a 100–82 Defeat: The EuroLeague Fantasy Lesson From Hapoel–Beşiktaş

Ante Žižić delivered 17 points, nine rebounds, four assists and 28 PIR in just 20:12 as Beşiktaş lost 100–82 to Hapoel. Zach LeDay posted 22 PIR for the winners. Here is what those minutes, roles and numbers actually mean for EuroLeague fantasy.

As at 15 October 2026, 7.00 am Adelaide time, following Wednesday’s completed EuroLeague Round 5 game. Hapoel IBI Tel Aviv beat Beşiktaş 100–82 in Sofia, but the highest individual performance index rating belonged to a player on the losing side. Ante Žižić produced 17 points, nine rebounds, four assists and 28 PIR in just 20 minutes and 12 seconds. It is exactly the kind of line that demands attention from EuroLeague fantasy managers — and exactly the kind that needs a second look before anyone treats it as a permanent change in role. The figures come from Hapoel’s official game statistics, which also confirm the final score and playing time.

The result and the fantasy result tell different stories

Beşiktaş trailed only 43–39 at half-time. Hapoel then won the third quarter 32–16, carrying a 75–55 lead into the final period. That decisive burst explains the 18-point margin more clearly than a single player's scoring total. Yet Žižić still registered 28 PIR, the best mark shown in the official box score. His production was not built on a 35-minute workload or a narrow scoring-only contribution: the nine rebounds and four assists were material parts of the performance. A losing team can still produce a fantasy-relevant individual winner.

There is an important limitation. Žižić came off the bench and played 20:12. One efficient night at that workload does not establish that he will play 30 minutes next time, start regularly or repeat 28 PIR. Managers should look at his next game's minutes, whether he is trusted in closing line-ups and how his rebounding opportunities are distributed. His Round 5 output earns a watchlist upgrade; it does not justify inventing a guaranteed floor or a universal trade recommendation.

Hapoel won through depth rather than one dominant scorer

Hapoel had five players between 15 and 16 points: Vasilije Micić and Elijah Bryant scored 16 apiece, while Zach LeDay, Amir Coffey and Antonio Blakeney each had 15. None reached 20. That balance is a meaningful team result, but it complicates fantasy forecasting. When several players share the scoring, a convincing win need not produce a single runaway individual line. The club’s official box score gives a better guide than points alone: LeDay recorded 22 PIR in 20:33, Coffey 18 PIR in 25:42, Micić 16 PIR in 24:39, and Bryant and Blakeney 15 PIR each.

LeDay is the particularly useful contrast with Žižić. His 15 points and six rebounds produced 22 PIR despite barely more than 20 minutes on court. He started, whereas Žižić was a reserve, but neither player's single-game minutes are a sufficient basis for assuming a stable future workload. LeDay’s efficiency and contributions across categories merit attention; whether those opportunities persist is the question to revisit after the next fixture.

Coffey's 15 points, seven rebounds and two assists supplied another well-rounded line. Micić scored 16 with three assists, while starting guard Tomas Satoransky finished with five points, three assists and nine PIR in 21:17. Those numbers illustrate the distinction between a recognised name, an actual role and a fantasy outcome on a given night. Micić’s presence does not mean every assist or every minute must flow through him, and the available evidence does not support a new pecking order after one game.

The Beşiktaş guard question is separate from Žižić's breakout

Scottie Wilbekin played 20:16, finishing with nine points and four PIR. Jaylen Nowell recorded seven points and minus-four PIR in 17:35; Devon Dotson had five points and six assists in 21:15. That is a mixed set of outcomes, not proof that the backcourt has permanently changed. A difficult team result can compress minutes, affect shot quality and produce unusual distributions. The next test is whether those playing-time patterns recur in a more competitive game. Beşiktaş’s official EuroLeague fixture list places Bayern Munich next on Friday 16 October.

The same caution applies to Hapoel's interior rotation. Dan Oturu played 18:38 for six points and five rebounds; Tai Odiase played 20:21, also scoring six, with three blocks. Those contributions matter to the team's win, but they are not a basis for inventing a new starting centre, predicting future minutes or assigning fantasy position eligibility. Use the official game data as a starting point, then look for repeatable coaching decisions.

Buckets verdict: reward the evidence, not the headline number

Žižić is the standout individual fantasy signal from this game, because 28 PIR in 20:12 is exceptional efficiency backed by rebounds and playmaking. LeDay and Coffey deserve a second look, because their contributions were not confined to scoring. Wilbekin and Nowell are monitoring cases, not automatic sells after one defeat. PIR is the EuroLeague’s performance index rating; it should not be presented as an identical score in every fantasy format, whose rules and player availability may differ. Before acting, confirm your competition's scoring, the player's eligibility and your own roster needs.

The real lesson from Hapoel's 100–82 victory is that the match winner and the box-score winner do not have to be the same. Use the official Hapoel match record for what happened, and wait for the next round to tell us which minutes and roles are genuinely sustainable. A 28-PIR bench performance is a reason to investigate — not a licence to forecast another one.
