Real Madrid’s Three-Guard Answer in Milan: Why Feliz Is the EuroLeague Fantasy Watch

Real Madrid beat Milan 98–89 as Andrés Feliz, Théo Maledon and Facundo Campazzo combined for 60 PIR. The backcourt is clicking, but fantasy managers need to separate a strong night from a settled hierarchy before ASVEL.

Real Madrid’s 98–89 win away to EA7 Olimpia Milan was more than a second EuroLeague victory after an 0–3 start. It offered a clear illustration of how Pedro Martínez can win with three guards contributing in different ways — and why fantasy managers should be cautious about declaring any one of them the automatic beneficiary of Madrid’s improving form.

The official Real Madrid match report credits Andrés Feliz with 15 points, five rebounds, five assists and a performance index rating (PIR) of 24. Théo Maledon supplied 14 points and 21 PIR, while Facundo Campazzo added 13 points and 15 PIR. Together, the three guards contributed 60 PIR. That is an actual match total, not a fantasy projection or a promise of future returns.

The 24–3 swing explains more than the final margin

Milan led 25–21 after the first quarter, and the teams were level at 39–39 late in the second. Madrid then changed the contest. The club describes a 24–3 run spanning approximately minutes 18 to 23, combining the closing stretch before half-time with the start of the third quarter. Madrid led 53–40 at the break and 84–67 after three periods before Milan reduced the final margin.

That sequence matters for fantasy analysis because the decisive possessions were not built around a single isolation scorer. Madrid’s report highlights Campazzo’s influence at both ends, Maledon’s scoring and playmaking, and Feliz’s contribution as the advantage grew. The club also credits Jones with 12 points and Edy Tavares with 10. The victory had several sources of production; the guard trio was its organising strength, not the entire attack.

It is tempting to read Feliz’s team-high PIR as a permanent change in the backcourt hierarchy. That would be an overreach. A 24-PIR night is a strong result, especially with five rebounds and five assists alongside his scoring, but PIR is not the same as minutes, touches or guaranteed future fantasy points. Without a verified game-by-game minutes trend, this performance is evidence of what Feliz can deliver, not proof that he has displaced Campazzo or Maledon.

Feliz is the watchlist upgrade; Maledon and Campazzo remain central

For managers assessing the three, Feliz is the player whose near-term upside deserves another look. His Milan line came through multiple categories, which is more interesting than an isolated burst of hot shooting. The actionable question is whether he continues to receive enough court time and on-ball responsibility to reproduce that breadth of production when Madrid are not enjoying a decisive scoring run.

Maledon’s 14 points and 21 PIR reinforce his importance to the attack. Madrid’s account specifically identifies his five consecutive points early in the second quarter and his contributions to resisting Milan’s fourth-quarter comeback. This is useful role evidence, but it does not establish that every match will provide the same scoring opportunities. If your fantasy format rewards efficiency or broader box-score contributions, inspect the actual scoring rules rather than translating the PIR figure directly into your game’s points.

Campazzo’s 13 points and 15 PIR tell a slightly different story. He was prominent during the run that broke the game open, with the club singling out his defensive and offensive influence. A manager looking only at the highest points total could miss the value of a guard who shapes possessions even when another team-mate finishes them. Equally, leadership and influence do not automatically convert into a fantasy premium: the recorded statistics and role in your particular scoring system still decide his value.

The practical ranking is therefore not a blanket buy order. Feliz earns a watchlist promotion, Maledon remains a credible active consideration, and Campazzo should not be downgraded solely because he was third among the trio in scoring or PIR. Any transfer decision needs the current player pool, your league’s scoring settings, available alternatives and confirmed line-ups. No ownership percentages, prices or projected fantasy scores have been verified here.

The next test comes quickly against ASVEL

Madrid’s official 2026–27 EuroLeague fixture list schedules ASVEL Villeurbanne at home on Thursday 15 October, just two days after the Milan win. That short turnaround is particularly valuable for evaluation: managers can check whether the same three guards again drive the offence, how their minutes are distributed, and whether the closing line-up resembles the one that decided Tuesday’s game.

There is also a useful distinction between team recovery and individual fantasy certainty. Madrid have now beaten Partizan and Milan in successive EuroLeague rounds after losing their opening three. Buckets covered the first step against Partizan. The new information from Milan is not merely another win; it is the stronger, measurable contribution from three different guards in the same match. That is a genuine development, but two wins are still a small sample for forecasting a full-season rotation.

For the ASVEL game, look for three things before making an aggressive move: Feliz’s actual minutes and ball-handling share; whether Maledon continues to create and score in important stretches; and whether Campazzo retains the closing-game responsibility Madrid relied on in Milan. Those observations will do more to distinguish sustainable fantasy value from a single excellent PIR line than a rushed headline-driven trade.

Buckets verdict: Madrid’s backcourt looks more functional than it did during the 0–3 start, and Feliz has earned renewed fantasy attention. But the 98–89 win does not crown a new undisputed lead guard. The smartest response is to upgrade the watchlist, verify the next rotation and buy sustained opportunity rather than one night’s ranking.
